Kelly B. Schaet

Kelly B. Schaet is a Partner in the firm’s West Palm Beach office and is also able to handle matters in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa locations. Ms. Schaet has represented both public and private sector employers, carriers and servicing agents in workers’ compensation litigation for over 21 years. She has successfully defended complex workers’ compensation cases specializing in presumption cases involving the “heart and lung bill”, occupational exposure, occupational disease, catastrophic injury and death claims. Ms. Schaet has a strong commitment to providing personalized customer service and solutions that meet her individual client’s legal needs.

Ms. Schaet was born and raised in Hollywood, Florida. Kelly attended the University of Florida where she graduated with High Honors with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration specializing in Finance. Ms. Schaet received her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from Shepard Broad School of School, in Davie, Florida. While in law school, she clerked for a Federal Judge in Miami and interned with the Broward State Attorney’s Office. Ms. Schaet then worked as an Assistant State Attorney at the Broward State Attorney’s Office prior to devoting her practice to the defense of Florida Workers’ Compensation Claims. Ms. Schaet has practiced with two large Southern Florida civil defense firms where she was a partner in the workers’ compensation department before becoming a member of Schefer Petric & Simpson.

Ms. Schaet is licensed to practice int he State of Florida and has litigated cases throughout the State focusing on primarily on Miami Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties. She has lectured at numerous seminars on topics such as “heart and lung”, defending exposure and occupational disease, ethics, idiopathic injuries and the Florida Impairment Guidelines.
